Writing useful notes
Guidelines that I’m sure to ignore. Possibly an unnatural constraint, but with the site’s current focus on transclusion , note sections should be as self-contained as possible.
All notes #
Don’t just write things down; try to learn something. Avoid semi-colons.
Create notes that will be useful in the future.
Ignore the above and write with abandon (and brevity).
Anything you might have to lookup again is worthy of a note.
Semantic search is the blog’s main entry point. Keep that in mind without letting it become a constraint.
Technical notes #
What did you do? Why did you do it? What’s the source of the information? Did it work? What are you unsure about?
Research notes #
Link to the source material. Outline the points that are covered. How do they link to other ideas/subjects? What did you learn? Avoid synopsis (some balance is required here).
Publishing notes to the internet #
Avoid political and cultural hot-takes. Otherwise, go for it.
